HISTORY OF THE BACHELOR OF THE COLLEGE OF FISHERIES

The College of Fisheries of the University of Antique Tario Lim Memorial Campus has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1948 as the Tario Lim Memorial High School by philanthropist and Municipal Mayor Deodata Lim Bandoja. The school was initially established on an 8-hectare site, which was expanded over the years through generous donations, including additional land from Mayor Federico Ruiz and the 2-hectare site from the old public market in 1971.

In 1955, the school integrated with the Antique School of Fisheries through RA 1085, and its name was changed to Tario Lim Memorial Antique School of Fisheries. The introduction of a Vocational Fishery Curriculum in 1956 marked the beginning of its specialized focus on fisheries education. Over time, the school expanded its academic offerings, including the introduction of a Baccalaureate Program in Fisheries in 1974, and Teacher Education in Fisheries (BSFEd) in 1976, although the latter was discontinued by 1979.

Throughout the 1980s, the school underwent several curriculum revisions to meet national educational standards. In 1995, the institution was recognized as a Higher Education institution under RA 7722, and in 2000, it became an external campus of the Polytechnic State College of Antique (PSCA), later became the University of Antique Tario Lim Memorial Campus in 2009.

In recent years, the school continued to innovate with new curriculum updates in 2011 and 2022, aligning with the latest standards set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The College of Fisheries remains a key academic institution for fisheries in the province of Antique.
