In honoring a milestone of hard work and dedication, the College of Fisheries celebrated its College Day with the theme “Molecular Horizons: Biotechnology in Sustainable Fisheries” today, November 9, 2025, at the Recreational and Fitness Center.

The event was graced by Dr. Garner Alolod, College Dean and Director of Research, Extension, and Innovation; Dr. Charlene Joy Amar, Director of Student Affairs; as well as representatives from World Vision and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

Also present were COF alumni who recently passed the Fisheries Licensure Examination, joining the celebration as a testament to the college’s growing excellence.

"As we gather here energized by new knowledge and research in the last half year, let us continue to advance a future where science empowers communities, where innovation drives sustainability, and where our college remains a beacon of excellence for the future,” Prof. Mendoza, in his opening message.

Additionally, the keynote speaker, Dr. Alolod, shared his insights on Molecular Biotechnology and its vital applications in fisheries, emphasizing the field’s enduring importance.

"Until all the waters in the world run dry, fisheries matter. Until all of us are dependent on the aquatic environment, fisheries matter. And until everyone consumes fish, we matter,” Dr. Alolod expressed.

Furthermore, the curriculum review and meeting with parents, team-building activities, and the awarding of academic achievers also took place at the same venue in the afternoon.
